By 2022, he began supporting Republican candidates and became especially active during the 2024 presidential election. His support for Donald Trump extended far beyond financial contributions. He believed direct action and message control were necessary to influence public opinion.
For more than two years, Newlin traveled across the country, focusing primarily on swing states where voter influence would be strongest. He created and funded his own independent advertising campaign supporting Trump’s presidential run.
These advertisements featured border sheriffs, Gold Star families, professional NFL players, and everyday mothers speaking about crime, immigration, and national security. Rather than relying on traditional campaign messaging, Newlin focused on real personal stories that connected with voters emotionally and practically.
He also launched more than 500 billboards across major swing states, carrying messages designed to strengthen voter support. His investment in the campaign included millions of dollars in advertising and a one million dollar donation to the family of Corey Comperatore.
His role in the election showed his understanding of modern political influence and his willingness to be directly involved rather than remain behind the scenes.
A Public Commitment to Pediatric Cancer Research
Beyond politics and law, one of the most meaningful parts of Newlin’s work has been his long-standing commitment to pediatric cancer research and patient support.
For years, he has donated millions of dollars toward cancer treatment programs, research initiatives, and direct support for families facing childhood cancer. One of his most public efforts came when he placed a one million dollar sports bet with the intention of using the attention surrounding the event to raise awareness for pediatric cancer research. After winning the bet, he donated the entire one million dollars to Nemours Children’s Hospital, supporting pediatric cancer treatment and medical research. The donation reflected his belief that bold actions can create stronger public awareness and inspire others to contribute.

Newlin’s commitment to helping families can also be seen in his support for Danielle Sampson, a young girl whose life changed forever after she was struck by a stray bullet during a gang-related shooting in Orlando in 2012.
At just fifteen years old, Danielle suffered severe brain damage and paralysis. Her condition required constant medical care, specialized equipment, and long-term support that placed enormous emotional and financial pressure on her family.
Newlin immediately stepped in by offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible. But his support did not end with legal action.
He helped purchase medical equipment, covered professional healthcare services, and built a brand-new handicap-accessible home for Danielle and her family. His goal was to provide not only assistance but also stability and dignity during an incredibly painful chapter of their lives.
Even years later, he continues to visit Danielle and remains involved in her care. His relationship with the family reflects a level of commitment that goes far beyond professional duty.

On December 11, 2024, President-elect Donald Trump announced his intention to nominate Dan Newlin as the next United States ambassador to Colombia.
The nomination represented a major step from national legal and political influence into international diplomacy. It also carried personal meaning, as Newlin owns a ranch in Colombia and maintains close ties to the country.
The role reflected not only political trust but also recognition of his leadership, relationship-building, and long-standing involvement in both domestic and international communities.
