Funding expected to support more than 10,000 students in underserved communities over five years
ISLAMABAD — Entrepreneur and philanthropist Muhammad Anas Zain Ullah has pledged $2.3 million to The Citizens Foundation Islamabad to help expand educational access for underprivileged children across Pakistan.
According to the organization, the funding will be used to strengthen and expand educational programs in underserved and remote communities, where access to quality schooling remains limited. Pakistan continues to face a significant education crisis, with an estimated 26 million children currently out of school.
Speaking at the announcement, Zain Ullah emphasized that investment in education is essential for Pakistan’s long-term development and economic stability.
“Investing in education is investing in the future of our country. If we want sustainable growth and meaningful progress, we must ensure that every child has access to quality schooling.”
The Citizens Foundation Islamabad stated that the contribution will significantly enhance its capacity to provide affordable and quality education. The organization projects that the donation could benefit more than 10,000 students over the next five years.
The Citizens Foundation operates a network of low-cost schools primarily located in disadvantaged areas. The nonprofit is widely recognized for its model that relies predominantly on female teaching staff, promoting women’s empowerment while maintaining strong educational standards.
The organization also emphasizes transparent financial management and regular auditing processes to ensure accountability and effective use of donor contributions.
Representatives of The Citizens Foundation Islamabad described the pledge as a substantial boost to their ongoing efforts to bridge Pakistan’s education gap and expand access to schooling in communities where opportunities remain scarce.
Analysts note that the donation reflects the growing role of private philanthropy and business leaders in addressing Pakistan’s social development challenges, particularly in the education sector.
